World Energy Innovations’ Efficiency Master Planning for Colleges and Universities

We recognize that future generations need necessary tools to address the climate change crisis while creating innovations to ensure America meets its energy needs. Our CEO Tom Kiser partnered with the Wege Foundation, a private philanthropic organization that has worked for more than 20 years to advance environmental sustainability in higher education.

We lend expertise in modeling advanced energy systems to create strategies and processes that guide academic institutions in developing practical plans to meet their ACUPCC commitments.

We have developed a two-step Energy Efficiency Master Planning process as a guide to bring academic leadership together to build a strategic vision for sustainable energy models on campuses. This process aids college and university leadership teams in defining achievable energy goals that align with this vision.

A technical evaluation of the comprehensive energy needs of a school provides detailed information needed to design an efficient energy model. We work with a school’s physical plant staff to carry out energy assessments and develop an energy system that will achieve set goals.
We also help develop curriculum tools to prepare students to meet future environmental challenges. They are designed to help drive a paradigm shift that will produce leaders committed to a sustainable, carbon neutral energy policy.

Several large colleges and universities have completed campus energy assessments and developed sustainable energy models with our assistance.

Colleges and universities may not produce the majority of America’s carbon footprint, but they do produce 100 percent of America’s educational footprint. Therefore, it is critical our platforms of higher education become leaders in sustainable energy.

More than 650 schools have joined the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) to do just that.
